What is embryo adoption?

The adoption of embryos is an assisted reproduction treatment that allows a woman / couple to be a mother / parents who requires a double donation, egg donation and sperm donation.

The embryos that can be adopted come from donations made by other women / couples who have opted for the section proposed by law 14/2006 on assisted human reproduction techniques, which establishes the destination of cryo-preserved embryos as donation to other couples / women for reproductive purposes.

These embryos must meet the same standards, RD 412/1996 and RD 1301/2006, as the donation of gametes (eggs and sperm). Also applying the same selection criteria for the recipient woman / partner.

What is the procedure?

The procedure is a cryo transfer, requiring the preparation of the endometrium of the recipient woman and performing the cryopreservation of the embryos in the clinical embryology laboratory.
